Lecture on General Data Protection Regulation

Data Protection is one of the most talked about topics in recent years. Several questions arise regarding the regulation of privacy and integrity of consumer data, making it of utmost importance that companies know the rules applied.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regulates the privacy and integrity of consumer data in the European Union, intending to respond to the new challenges posed by the technological evolution of Digital Transformation. Thus, it requires the implementation of tools in process management and control of specific procedures. Non-compliance is punishable with sanctions and penalties that can amount up to 20 million euros or 4% of turnover.

The RGPD provides for a strengthening of the security and privacy of citizens’ personal data held by companies. New regulations have been added that determine strict measures regarding the origin, storage, processing and access to this type of information.  As well as measures related to the issue of consent, proof and evidence of compliance with the Regulation, new rights for data subjects, notification of data breaches, and strengthening the security of such data.

The Venture Builder will be holding a RGPD Talk on June 15th. During the session, the guest José Alvarenga, will make a general presentation about the regulation. On June 13 there will be a workshop with AERLIS, Business Association of the Lisbon Region, which has also addressed the topic.
