Webinar: The Voluntary Carbon Market and the Implementation of the Afforestation Methodology, September 17, 2025, 3:00 PM
In Portugal, we have set an ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2045. The National Energy and Climate Plan (PNEC) 2030 establishes ambitious targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aiming for a 55% reduction by 2030 compared to 2001 levels.
We know that during periods of high temperatures and low humidity, the risk of forest fires increases. We believe there is a huge opportunity to adopt a more innovative approach by transforming residual forest biomass (RFB) into a valuable resource. Producing biochar from RFB emerges as a promising alternative. This strategy not only helps prevent wildfires by removing excess combustible material but also contributes to improving soil quality and sequestering carbon.
With the approval of the Afforestation Methodology — the first methodology to come into force within the Voluntary Carbon Market — Carbon Captura, in partnership with PRA, Raposo, Sá Miranda & Associados, and The Venture Builder, will host an online and free Webinar on September 17, at 3:00 PM. The event is aimed at Forestry Associations and their members.
The goal is to empower forest owners to identify which types of projects are eligible in the Carbon Market and thereby generate value from their forest holdings, turning them into valuable assets for both the climate and the Portuguese economy. Several practical case studies will also be presented.
Be part of the solution. Discover how your forest holding can become a new source of income and a driver of change for a greener future.
