Portugal has now available more than 150 million euros for startups wishing to validate new digital technologies

Portugal is a prime destination for early adoption of new technology and ideas and for trials. As Ms. Ana Teresa Lehman, a previous secretary of state for industry explained: “We are a small country, but we are highly-developed and ready for new technology; indeed, we are a fertile ground for experimentation and a test-bed for tomorrow’s technology.

Others like Janssen’s managing director, Felipa Costa justifies that “more and more companies begin to see the value of testing out new digital ideas because of the mitigated risk”. Also, Filipe Paias, general manager for Baxter agrees that “Portugal is a fantastic pilot country. The way we overcome these challenges can be a benchmark for bigger countries. We can therefore test and mitigate part of the solution in Portugal, a smaller market, before scaling to larger economies in Europe.”

In short, Portugal provides the necessary skills and resources for companies to test (and validate) new products. And now has 150 million euros available through national infrastructures that foster the creation of the necessary conditions for companies (and startups) in order they can develop and testing new products and therefore accelerate the digital transition process in a total risk-free environment.
